Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans will host five-time champions Mumbai Indians at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, April 25 in the 35th IPL 2023 league meeting. While the home side will be buoyed by their incredible victory against Lucknow Super Giants in their previous outing, the visitors will be looking to get back to winning ways after a narrow loss against Punjab Kings.

The reigning champions were under the pump for the most part of the game against KL Rahul’s Lucknow Super Giants. But Hardik Pandya’s side pulled out the rabbit from the hat after a sensational death bowling performance. The Gujarat-based franchise have had an indifferent tournament so far and will be looking to climb up the points table in the upcoming games.

Meanwhile, their counterparts, Mumbai Indians’ three-game winning streak came to a halt after a narrow defeat against an inspired Punjab Kings at the Wankhede. Rohit Sharma’s men were on top of the proceedings in the first half of the first innings, but Sam Curran’s blistering half-century followed by Jitesh Sharma’s cameo deflated the hosts.

Mumbai’s batters, led by the hard-hitting Cameron Green gave a great account of themselves while chasing a mammoth total, but they were halted in their tracks by a red-hot Arshdeep Singh in the final few overs of the match.

Pitch and Conditions

The previous match at this venue saw a hard-fought contest between bat and ball. While the slower bowlers are expected to get a fair bit of assistance from the surface in Ahmedabad, the batters will also chance their arm with relatively shorter boundaries on offer at the venue.

Probable Playing XI for GT vs MI

Gujarat Titans

There have been a few question marks about the intent of the Gujarat batters in their recent matches, as it feels like the defending champions have adopted a more conservative approach this time around. Skipper Hardik Pandya’s return to form is a big boost for the home side in their title defence.

Probable Playing XI: Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya (c), Vijay Shankar, Abhinav Manohar, David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, Noor Ahmad, Mohit Sharma

Mumbai Indians

Rohit Sharma’s side struggled to close out the innings with the ball in their previous outing after a lacklustre showing by the pacers. However, the return of Jofra Archer to the playing eleven is a massive plus for the Mumbai-based outfit.

Probable Playing XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk), Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tim David, Cameron Green, Nehal Wadhera, Arjun Tendulkar, Piyush Chawla, Jason Behrendorff, Hrithik Shokeen
