The first milestone achieved by a professional batsman in ODIs is a century. When a player combines conservatism and aggressiveness according to the match’s conditions, they score a century in an ODI match.
Of course, some people score hundreds of points while leaning more in one direction or the other. However, due to obvious reasons, scoring a century does get harder as a player ages. In light of this, this article examines the oldest five ODI cricketers to record a century.
3) Geoffrey Boycott (39 years, 51 days)

Boycott had a stellar Test career, but he had less of an impact in ODIs. In reality, he only participated in 36 ODIs for his nation. Out of this, he only managed to achieve one century, which occurred until he was 39 years old. He was therefore the oldest player to ever score a ton in an ODI, dating back more than 25 years.
England was competing against Australia and the West Indies in a tri-nation series. England batted first in this matchup with Australia. Boycott, who batted first, needed seven boundaries to get to 100 runs. When Australia came to chase it was a tough one, he assisted England in setting a target of 264, which they successfully defended by 72 runs.
2) Chris Gayle (39 years, 151 days)

The team was in excellent shape when England traveled to the West Indies in 2019 prior to the World Cup. Jos Buttler’s exploits helped England batters set a target of 419 for the West Indies team as they batted first in this specific encounter. Before the second inning began, everyone believed the game was finished.
Gayle, who was 39 years old, scored 162 runs in just 97 balls to help West Indies reach 389 runs despite his advanced age. There were an astounding 14 sixes from the Jamaican’s bat. For his supporters, it was a fun game. Gayle hasn’t scored a century since and hasn’t participated in an ODI since 2019.
1) Sanath Jayasuriya (39 years, 212 days)

Sanath Jayasuriya, a legend in Sri Lanka cricket, with 13430 ODI runs and 28 hundreds to his credit. When he was about 40 years old, he scored his last century. He is therefore ranked No. 2 on this list of the oldest cricketers to record a century in an ODI.
India went on a tour to Sri Lanka, and Jayasuriya got off to his usual start in the opening ODI of the series. The Indian bowlers did a good job of keeping him in check, but the opener nevertheless struck eleven fours and a six to get his hundred. Zaheer Khan, however, quickly eliminated him. India defeated the opponent with ease after being given a target of 247.
